by ARporn.com, which is a VR porn site dedicated to passthrough videos (commonly described as ‘AR’ but not volumetric 360 AR), is now using AI to convert classic VR videos to the mixed-reality format. It means that the rate of ‘new’ releases is almost one a day, at least at the time of publication (October 2025). The site is still releasing natively shot passthrough videos every week, and the AI converted videos are clearly marked as such. In addition, every new AI passthrough video comes with an AI sex toy script to enable you to synch any suitable interactive sex toy with the action in the video.
ARPorn.com isn’t the first studio to convert conventional VR porn to passthrough. A number of studios on their aggragator site VRPorn.com and rival SexLikeReal have long been uploading passthrough videos that were shot with a normal studio background and post-edited for passthrough. With the progress in AI, it’s been much easier to do this, although hardcore fans of passthrough porn still generally consider the quality to not be the same as for passthrough filmed videos (i.e. with a green screen or chromakey suit and background).
In April of this year (2025), SexLikeReal made every new VR porn release available as passthrough AI. Given that the site releases at least a dozen ‘new’ videos each day, that’s clearly very exciting for fans of passthrough porn. Still, as mentioned, passthrough AI isn’t quite the same, as even SexLikeReal admits. In another blog post, they list the main disadvantages of post-edited AI passthrough videos:
- Uses AI to segment performers, which can introduce visual artifacts or softness
- May have more issues with lighting or mask placement
Another passthrough porn site that uses AI to convert classic videos is RealVR – an aggregator site from the same studio behind BadoinkVR, VRCosplayX and others.
Whilst passthrough AI still has its limitations, the tech is progressing so fast that this is unlikely to remain the case for much longer. Indeed, hopefully before long AI will reach the point that it can turn passthrough videos into 360 volumetric ‘true’ AR. Perhaps it will eventually be able to turn 2D filmed movies into 3D VR passthrough or even 360 6DoF AR?
