by The Meta Quest 3 VR headset was finally released earlier this month, and it’s already shaking up the VR porn market. Or rather, the AR porn market. Or if you prefer, the ‘mixed reality’ porn market. That’s because of the amazing passthrough feature of the new headset, which is not only in color but has 10 x the pixel resolution of the Quest 2. Because this is the first mainstream ‘mixed reality’ headset, as Mark Zuckerberg called it when presenting it to the world last month, the terminology is still not clear and decided, especially when it comes to the kind of porn that people will want to experience on it.
SexLikeReal Passthrough VR Porn Videos Experience A Huge Spike In Demand
Somewhat oddly, only one studio/site is currently releasing VR videos for passthrough viewing – SexLikeReal. I say oddly, because surely anybody could have foreseen that with the release of the Meta Quest 3, with high-quality color passthrough, and expected to sell millions over the next few months, that passthrough porn would sharply increase in popularity. Alas, most of the VR porn bosses do appear to be a little dumb, or at least they pay little or no attention to what VR porn fans want, and what VR porn fans are saying they want in popular forums and Reddits.
The foresighted decision of SexLikeReal to invest in passthrough has certainly paid off with the release of the Meta Quest 3. Looking at the trending ‘hot’ videos on their homepage today, I saw that two of the top VR videos were passthrough, and that six of the top 16 were. One passthrough video – ‘The Timid Affair’ starring Anya Olsen – has attracted over 2,000 likes in only 3 days. I have also been told by an insider that passthrough porn sales are up by as much as 500% already, from only last month. This is all even more impressive when you consider that Meta has deliberately given the Quest 3 a rather soft launch, with less fanfare than the Quest 2, and that supply issues have meant that many people who even pre-ordered their headset, are still waiting to get their hands on it. If these supply issues can be resolved soon, and as word gets around about the Quest 3 and its awesome VR and mixed reality, then we could see the passthrough porn market increase by another 500% over the next 3 months.
‘True’ AR Porn Gets A Boost From The Meta Quest 3
As I explained at the start of this article, the exact terminology for this new type of content, whether mainstream or adult, is still yet to be pinned down and defined. We have a number of different terms that can overlap with each other, and can mean different things to different people, and have popular uses that are not exactly aligned with their original technical meanings. Terms such as VR (virtual reality), AR (augmented reality), MR (mixed reality), XR (extra or extended reality), and passthrough itself. However, some prefer to use mixed reality for these 3D ‘holograms’, and reserve the term augmented reality for 2D objects or information overlaid on your normal vision (such as a temperature reading, or 2D cat’s ears on top of a person’s face).
In any case, ‘hologram’ porn, or true AR porn, is also receiving a boost with the release of the Meta Quest 3, as that also is viewed in mixed reality passthrough mode. Sales of the leading true AR porn site – RealGirlsNow – have also spiked since the launch of the headset, although interestingly, not as much as the passthrough VR videos of SexLikeReal. It’s also worth noting that SexLikeReal themselves refer to their videos as ‘passthrough AR’ porn videos. Whatever terminology wins out, it’s certain that we’re going to have a lot more hot girls to fuck in the comfort of our own home environments in the coming months and years!
