Whilst VR headsets are still niche products, and even the advanced ‘mixed reality’ headsets from Apple and Meta haven’t set the world on fire, “smart glasses” – also branded as “AR glasses” or (even more commonly now) “AI glasses” – are starting to fly off the shelves. They’re also becoming more sophisticated with new features added with every new release or upgrade. However, with the confusion in branding it can be difficult to determine whether or not these glasses enable the wearer to experience adult AR content. For example, Meta’s latest glasses do not, although still often described as “AR glasses”. One leading smart glasses product that does enable AR experiences (at least with an attachment bought separately) is the popular XREAL ONE Pro AR glasses.
XREAL ONE PRO TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The XREAL One Pro comes with a 0.55-inch Sony micro-OLED display running at 1920×1080 per eye with a 120Hz refresh rate. That high refresh rate means smooth motion for video content, essential to prevent immersion breaking judder and blur just when you’re reaching climax. The 57° field of view enables an authentic cinematic experience, simulating a 171-inch screen viewed from about 13 feet away. Combined with micro-OLED’s signature deep blacks and vibrant colors, video content looks amazing.
The three-level electrochromic dimming is particularly well-implemented. You can keep the lenses clear for viewing content while staying aware of your surroundings, apply medium dimming to reduce distractions, or go full blackout for complete immersion. This flexibility is perfect for different viewing scenarios.
6DoF and the XREAL Eye Accessory
As well as enabling a lightweight, discreet, and immersive way to experience your favorite 2D porn videos, the XREAL One Pro is capable of displaying 3D stereoscopic content. But in order to view AR content, you will need to purchase an attachment – the XREAL Eye. This will cost you a further $99. And in order to operate this, you will also need an XREAL Beam Pro, which is priced at $199.
These are expensive add-ons to what is already one of the priciest pair of smart glasses on the market. But they do enable amazing things, including, the ability to experience AR porn. But before we get to that, I should mention that the XREAL Eye enhances the simple viewing experience of 2D (or 3D) porn on the glasses too. The virtual screen remains firmly anchored even when you change position on your sofa, or even if you walk around. But it’s ideal for masturbation as you can change your position on the bed and the virtual screen will still be in the same place.
This is all very good, but what you will want to know above all else as an AR porn fan is should you splash out for the glasses and accessories to watch your favorite content? Well, as we all know, there is still limited (true) AR porn content out there. The XREAL Pro One glasses with the Eye attachment makes AR porn viewing possible for sure, enabling you to walk around a ‘hologram’ model in 6doF (six degrees of freedom). However, there is no guarantee at present that the leading volumetric AR porn sites (Braindance VR and RealGirlsNow) have yet formatted their content for playing via these glasses. I expect they will before long, as AR enabled glasses are on track to become considerably more popular and even mainstream, as compared to VR headsets. On top of that, I fully expect too that other content producers will start making AR porn specifically for AR glasses. But as it stands, look at purchasing the XREAL Pro One glasses as something that will enable you to experience AR porn in the (hopefully near) future, and meanwhile massively enhancing your experience of masturbating to 2D and 3D porn.
