by When Naughty America decided to close their AR/VR project ‘Strip Club’ last year, it seemed a huge blow for the nascent AR porn industry. 3D volumetric scanned pornstars that you could either place in your home environment via your smartphone, or view in the strip club itself – a virtual reality evironment. When I was told by company reps of the closure, I got mixed messaages as to whether Naughty America AR had gone for good, or was simply being shelved for a time. The good news is that the latter was true. Strip Club and the AR web app are now back, both under a new domain name of their own – RealGirlsNow.com.
Although the number of scanned animations and models appear to be unchanged since I last looked before the closure, the interface seems improved somewhat from what I remember previously. Placement is easy and accurate, while changing the hologram’s size, and adding and removing multiple models, is also quite straightforward. You can now even change the strength and angle of the shadow cast by the animation on your floor, or remove it alltogether.
The animations look very impressive and largely flicker free. I honestly can’t wait to experience these in the forthcoming Quest Pro/Project Cambria headset from Meta. Hopefully they will be viewable in AR in that headset, otherwise Naughty America are certainly missing a trick. VR porn studio SexLikeReal have already created VR ‘holograms’ that work in the Quest 2’s passthrough mode. They did that through a process of removing the background from a regular VR porn scene – and it appears to work very well. So I see no reason why the volumetric animations of Real Girls Now shouldn’t also work in mixed reality passthrough. This is where AR porn will really take off. People don’t want to have to hold their smartphone for extended periods of time to view AR girls. Wearing a headset is a different story.
Hopefully we will hear news soon as to what Naughty America’s plans are for the new mixed reality headsets from Meta and Apple. As well as that, I look forward to some new animations and models. A 12 month subscription to Real Girls Now costs only $5.95 a month.
